Context/Vision
Our scholarship program aims to empower and support deserving female individuals in their pursuit of education, regardless of their financial background. We envision a future where education is accessible to all, fostering personal growth and creating opportunities for a brighter society.
The scholarship program will focus on addressing a diverse range of educational pursuits and individual circumstances. Riohs College of Design and IP2E Scholarship Scheme will seek to:
- Recognizing exceptional academic performance and potential.
- Supporting students with financial limitations to overcome barriers to education.
- Promoting diversity by providing opportunities for underrepresented groups in education.
- Recognizing individuals who have made a positive impact on their communities through service and leadership.
Scholarship Package
The scholarship package will only take care of the tuition of the successful applicant for a period of six (6) months. The scholarship shall only be applicable to female students who have gained admission to study fashion design and illustration course for the Evening/ Weekend Class and starting from February to August 2024.
Governance
The Scholarship Committee plays a crucial role in ensuring transparency and fairness in the selection process. The committee consists of representatives from various relevant departments, including academic experts, administrators, and financial manager. The composition reflects a diverse range of perspectives and expertise to make well-informed decisions regarding selection and ensuring that all applicants are given equal opportunity to access the scholarship scheme.
Scholarship Process

- Announcement – The scholarship program will be announced annually, providing sufficient time for interested applicants to prepare their submissions. The announcement will be done on the College’s website and social media handles.
- Application Period: Prospective students shall be expected to submit their application within a two weeks notice period. Application will be accepted through manual and online means.
- Application Review: The scholarship committee will thoroughly review all applications, evaluating them based on predetermined criteria.
- Shortlisting: A shortlist of candidates will created based on the initial review by the Committee.
- Interviews (if applicable): Shortlisted candidates may be invited for interviews to gain a deeper understanding of their aspirations and potential towards the fashion design course. It is the expectation that all prospective applicant shall have the desire to pursue the fashion design course for the purposes of enhancing their livelihood and gaining a meaningful employment to support their family.
- Final Selection: The Committee shall select scholarship recipients based on the collective evaluation of applications and interviews (if conducted).
Notification of Award
Successful and unsuccessful applicants will be notified promptly. Emails will be sent to all applicants and in circumstances where emails are not available phone call will be used. Scholarship recipients will receive a formal scholarship offer letter outlining the details of their award.
Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

- Gained admission from Riohs College to study the six months course for either evening or weekend classes only.
- Academic status – Applicants for the fashion design course must have at least completed
- Nationality – Must be a Ghanaian
- Age – Applicant for the scholarship must be eighteen (18) years and not above thirty-five (35) years.
- Financial Need – The scholarship program will provide opportunity to individuals with limited financial resources, as determined through a comprehensive assessment process.
- Logistics – Applicant should be willing and be financially stable to procure all required learning materials in order to complete assignments and eventually graduate the course.
- Leadership and Extracurricular Involvement: Candidates displaying exceptional leadership qualities, community engagement, and participation in extracurricular activities will be given favorable consideration.
- Provision of Letters of Recommendation and Proof of being able to purchase learning aids or materials for the course.
Application Process and Supporting Documents
Applicants are required to complete a comprehensive application form, which includes the following elements:

- Personal Information: Basic details, contact information, and background information.
- Academic Records: Submission of academic transcripts and certificates of achievement.
- Financial Information: Disclosure of financial status through appropriate documentation.
- Personal Statement/Essay: A written submission highlighting the applicant’s aspirations, academic and personal accomplishments, and how the scholarship would help them achieve their educational goals.
- Letters of Recommendation: Applicants are encouraged to submit two (2) letters of recommendation from teachers, mentors, religious leaders, respected personalities, government officials or individuals who can attest to their abilities and potential.
- Provide proof from a guardian/parent/sponsor of being able to procure logistics and materials needed for the entire course or provide a committal letter from sponsor.
Supporting Documents

- Official pay slip or payroll record of parents/guardians or the applicant.
- Recent school receipts/ bills of siblings of school going age.
- Birth Certificates (of siblings).
- Death Certificate or Burial permit (in case of death of a parent).
- Pension letter for retired parents/guardians.
- Bank Statements
- SSNIT contribution statements.
- Money transfer receipts.
- Evidence of other dependents of parents/guardians.
- Any other supporting documents that you believe will assist in the processing, of your application.
Criteria and Scoring System
The Scholarship Committee will employ a fair and comprehensive scoring system to evaluate applicants. The criteria may include:

- Academic Performance: Assessment of academic records, achievements, and potential.
- Financial Need: Evaluation of the applicant’s financial circumstances and the impact of the scholarship on their educational journey.
- Leadership and Extracurricular Involvement: Recognition of active participation in leadership roles, community service, and extracurricular activities.
- Personal Statement/Essay: Evaluation of the applicant
- Letters of Recommendation (2)
- Evidence of sponsorship for the purchase of learning materials for the course
- Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
Performance & Attitude
Prospective students who gain the scholarship opportunity shall be expected to maintain a consistent performance throughout the course and exhibit good behavior in consonance with the College’s code of conduct.
Confidentiality
All scholarship applications and related information will be treated with strict confidentiality and will only be used for the purpose of evaluating scholarship eligibility and making award decisions.
Amendment and Termination
Riohs College of Design reserves the right to modify or terminate the scholarship program at its discretion. Any changes or termination of the program will be communicated to current and prospective students in a timely manner.
Important Notice
Only persons who meet all the eligible criteria shall progress to the next phase of the scholarship program.
